When my project team is travelling, we will stop by Starbucks for a quick bite and head to the client site.

Arrive at the client site, get settled in and have an internal meeting to plan for the day.

Start our first meeting with the management team where we cover their overall business, operating structure, and priorities.

Start meetings with functional teams across the company. First, we meet with the Engineering Team and I take diligent notes while the project manager leads the group through conversation topics like shift scheduling, design process, efficiency, and employee satisfaction.

As part of our project, we were tasked with understanding how employees feel about the current operating structure, particularly the shift scheduling. We call this Employee Focus Groups. I take notes on employee feedback and highlighted some trends that emerged across the groups.

We break for lunch and discuss how our takeaways from the completed meetings.

I meet with the client’s production team. We cover topics like production process, output volumes, material sourcing, shift scheduling, and equipment utilization.

In the afternoons we try to have some "working session" time to make progress on our analysis and deliverables. As part of our scope of work, we are tasked with recommending a new shift schedule to be implemented across the production sites. The client's goal is to minimize attrition while building surge capacity in their production line. I am leading the competitor benchmarking and research efforts to identify best practices across the industry. I utilized 3rd party research, the A&M network, and layer in the Employee Focus Group feedback to identify key considerations needed to propose a new schedule.

We leave the client site and find a local restaurant to eat dinner with the team.

I head back to the hotel and finish work for the day. I make sure that the notes from our meetings have been summarized and sent out to the team. I incorporate any new benchmarking information we received from the A&M network into my analysis and begin to layout the slide structure for the deliverables.
